 | The Seniwati Gallery of Art by Women was founded in 1991, in response to the total lack of awareness of the existence of women artists at that time. Over its 15 years of existence it has become one of the most respected and exciting galleries of Balinese art with a full programme of exhibitions, one-woman or group shows and events for art lovers and collectors. It also has assisted many female artists to travel overseas whether for exhibition purposes or for educational studies, or both. For 14 years, they have run a weekly workshop for young Balinese girl artists, to encourage their skills and confidence and to show their families that their talents are valued in the wider world. The Seniwati Gallery is rightly becoming famous not only for its unique role, but also for the very high quality of art that it offers to the art-loving public to enjoy.
